Each course has requirements for passing resources in different categories that students must consume. The total workload of all resources consumed by a student within a course must exceed the workload defined by the course accreditation configuration.
To meet accreditation requirements, colleges must populate their course libraries on our platform with content. All parts of resources that will be delivered to students in their LMS, including external links, and attachments such as PDFs, videos, audios, and images must be synchronized with Woolf.
Educational materials on our platform are categorized into six categories: general resources, publications, peer-reviewed publications, regular assignments, meetings, and summative assignments.
Each resource requires a specific workload to be completed in order to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
After the college submits a resource, the Woolf accreditation team will review all resources and verify or reject them.
Students can consume any resources uploaded to course libraries on our platform, except for those that have been rejected or archived. However, only verified resources will count towards educational progress during graduation.
Resource Kinds
Name | Description |
General material | Materials relevant to the course but not fitting into any other category. |
Publication | General reading materials like textbooks, eBooks, articles, journals. |
Peer-reviewed publication | Peer-reviewed academic publications published in the last five years. Consult http://core.ac.uk/ if you need further materials. The file or text must be included. |
Meeting | Synchronous sessions, by video or in-person, individual or in groups where the student and teacher are both present. |
Regular assignment | Quizzes, essays, projects, and other assignments. |
Summative assignment | Every course requires students to complete at least one summative assignment. It should include or build upon all the learning objectives of the course. |
Statuses
Status | Description |
Draft | A resource has been created and saved in draft form, not yet submitted for review. |
Submitted | A college has submitted a resource to a course library, and it is waiting for review. |
Verified | The accreditation team has reviewed a resource and confirmed that it is compliant. |
Rejected | The accreditation team has reviewed a resource and marked it as non-compliant because it either lacks required information or does not meet accreditation standards. |
Archived | A college has marked a resource as outdated. New student engagement with this resource is not tracked and recorded by Woolf after archiving. |
Workload
The estimated time to complete a resource is known as the total workload. This estimate is crucial for maintaining course compliance and is integrated into the students' recorded activity history, reflecting their overall course consumed workload.
The total workload is calculated as the execution time multiplied by a factor, with the default multiplier set at 1. This calculation method allows for a detailed record of the actual time students spend on a resource, considering both direct engagement and the multiplier to account for prior learning and supportive activities.
Each type of resource in your course settings comes with a preset default workload, though customization for individual resources is possible.
The Woolf Accreditation team has the authority to adjust workloads as part of the review process. Additionally, Woolf may automatically modify the workload for certain resources.
For instance, the workload for meetings is automatically calculated based on whether a video file is attached. A meeting without a video defaults to a zero workload, which is updated once a recording is added, taking into account the video's duration and a specified multiplier.
Any changes made to the resource workload can be monitored in the resource activity log. This, alongside other relevant events, is accessible in the Woolf AMS for resource preview as required.
Content
Resource content can comprise solely text, only attachments, or a combination of both. It's crucial for Woolf to ensure this content is correctly displayed and preserved, providing long-term evidence of the materials delivered to students for regulatory compliance.
Attachments include any supporting materials linked to educational content, such as PDF documents, videos, audio files, datasets, and images.
💡Note: Students cannot access the content of college resources through Woolf AMS. They can view resource names, types, and workloads within their course activity history upon interaction but not the content itself.
Evidence
Evidence includes both automatically and manually captured screenshots of hyperlinks embedded in content. This practice is essential for validating referenced materials during future audits and ensuring compliance. It safeguards against the modification or deletion of source content.
Grade weights
Graded resources like regular and summative assignments, must have grade weights assigned to them. Resource can be associated with one or more grade weights.
