What is RPL for admission to a master's degree?
An applicant can be exempted from the requirements for admission if their life experiences provide similar learnings. For example, an applicant with a partially completed bachelor's degree in Computer Science has worked as a software engineer for several years. The applicant submits a portfolio of evidence for RPL, and after approval, she is enrolled directly into the MS in Computer Science.
The RPL officer will take into account both:
- Previous educational attainment, including informal periods of study
- Relevant work experience

Required and Helpful Documents for RPL Application
The RPL Officer requires both high quality experiences and high quality evidence of those experiences. In general, your application will be strengthened if you can provide more evidence: for example: signed letters from employers, transcripts from your prior universities, certificates of completion from informal education programs, etc.
When applying for RPL, please submit the following documents:
1. Proof of Relevant Professional Experience:
- Updated Resume/CV: Detailing all your educational and work experiences.
- LinkedIn Profile URL is an additional, separate form of evidence
- Verification of all work experience on the Resume/CV, such as:
- Pay slips from previous employers (please remove financial information)
- Letter confirming previous employment
- Other public evidence of the employment (such as a news article or the employer's own website, or the CEO's recommendation on your Linkedin page.
- Letters of recommendation from supervisors.
- Relieving or experience letters from employers.
2. Educational Background:

- Letters from your previous institution confirming your enrollment and achievements
- Additional educational work completed
- Bootcamp or professional certificates
- CPD credits earned
- Any licenses you hold
- May include CFA, CPA, ACCA or similar
3. Additional Information to Provide
- Help the RPL Officer understand how your experiences helped you achieve an equivalent competence to that of a bachelor's degree.
- Statement of Motivation: explain why you're a good fit for a Woolf master's program. Highlight relevant skills and experiences that demonstrate your preparedness for graduate studies.
Step-By-Step Document Submission Guide
Help the RPL Officer understand your case by providing an organized, comprehensible set of documents. Please submit them in 2 PDFs:
- Upload your Resume/CV as a separate document.
- Combine all other proof documents, including your statement of motivation, into a single PDF for upload. Consider adding a cover document to explain the contents.
How to combine your PDFs into a single, organized PDF?
There are many online tools to combine PDF documents into a single PDF. We recommend https://www.ilovepdf.com/merge_pdf but you can use whatever works, including your computer's own operating system. Here is a guide for merging files on ilovepdf.com:
1. Click on “Select PDF Files”.
2. Select all the documents in your computer that you want to merge into the single PDF file.
3. Once you select all the files necessary and click on “Open,” you will be redirected to the Page Layout Setup where you can select the order of the documents in your PDF file. You can select which document will be in the 1st page and which document will be in the last page. Once the layout is completed, at the bottom right of the screen, you will see the option to “Merge PDF.” You will need to click on it, after which the website will begin merging all your documents into a single PDF file.
4. Once the Merge is completed, your PDF file will be ready to download. Please click on “Download Merged PDF” and save it in your computer as the final document which needs to be uploaded in the RPL form.
