What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
RPL offers students the opportunity to receive credit or exemption from requirements on the basis of work completed prior to admission to Woolf. Examples might include the transfer of credits from another accredited higher education institution, or learning done as part of employment.
What are some ways I can benefit from RPL?
There are four different ways Woolf awards RPL:
- RPL for requirements for admission to a programme are considered to be fulfilled by exemption. Example: a Master’s degree that usually requires an MQF 6 degree for admission may recognize an MQF 5 degree and a certain number of years of relevant experience.
- RPL for requirements for progress in a programme are considered fulfilled by exemption. Example: A student might be exempted from a programming requirement on the basis of documented expertise.
- RPL when formal academic work is transferred or recognised for credit, fulfilling a requirement for admission to a programme.
- RPL when formal academic work is transferred or recognised for credit, fulfilling a requirement for progress in a programme.
💡Note: not all programmes award all types of RPL; check with the website of the programme you are applying for.
